Where are all those saved and created jobs?

With the latest reports showing unemployment now at 10.2%, I think it’s reasonable to wonder where those one million jobs saved and created are.

Even the New York Times is questioning it. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/05/us/05stimulus.html?_r=1 I guess doing such things as showing the creation of 50 jobs from the sale of one $1,047 Toro riding lawnmower would do a lot to pad the numbers.

The Chicago Tribune reports that state and federal officials claim 473 teaching jobs were saved in North Chicago schools. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/education/chi-education-stimulus-04-nov04,0,4659134.story Fantastic! Only thing is, there are only 290 teaching jobs in the district. The superintendent of one Illinois district pointed out the obvious—when the program expires, the positions will, too, unless the federal or state government continues to provide the funds because “…there won't be local resources to fund them.”

In this February 5 editorial President Obama said unemployment would reach double digits if nothing was done. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/02/04/AR2009020403174.html?hpid=opinionsbox1 They did something—in a big way—and now unemployment is in double digits.

According to this on Yahoo Finance (yahoo.com/news/Fed-officials-warn-weak-apf-3879922712.html?x=0&sec=topStories&pos=main&asset=),Federal Reserve officials are now saying publicly that unemployment will remain high for several years.

Remember back in July when Obama said  in his July 11 radio address that the stimulus plan was working as intended? (http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/ws/index.php?pid=86398)

I believe him.
